This week we have started our fairy tales topic ‘Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?’ In our English lessons we have read ‘The Three Little Pigs’, ‘Little Red Riding Hood’, ‘Jack and The Beanstalk’ and ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff.’ We have been focussing on retelling the stories, using story-mapping, pictures and props. It was important that we made our voices expressive and interesting for the listeners, and that we spoke clearly without any long pauses or ‘erms’!! We tried to use story language to link ideas too – ask us to give you some examples.
Our maths work has been about finding numbers on a 100 square and knowing how to find what 1 more or 1 less/2 more or 2 less than the number is. Please keep reading and writing 2 digit numbers at home.
In our recorder lessons we are getting much better at keeping the holes on our recorder covered and remembering sequences of notes – we have nearly mastered ‘Hot Cross Buns’! Mrs Lucas has been very impressed with us!
We have created our own fairy tale palace pictures in Art this week, using oil pastels – they look fabulous! In ICT we played a game to help us find the letters on the keyboard more quickly.
TASK: Who can draw a fairy tale setting or character and describe it?
