Welcome back and Happy New Year!
We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break.
This week in English, we have started to look at stories from other cultures. We have read a few short stories, we have thought about the characters and have looked for clues about the cultural background. We will be continuing to look at stories from other cultures over the next few weeks.
In Maths this week, we have been recapping positioning numbers on a number line and we have revised rounding numbers to the nearest 10/100/1000. We have also reviewed methods for quick addition and subtraction. Next week, we will be focusing on column addition/subtraction and we will be looking at formal methods for multiplication including money problems.
Our main topic for the spring term is ‘Where in the world’. We have started to think about India and the remote village of Chembakolli. Next week, we will be looking in more detail at the landscape of Southern India.
We have started our new science topic on states of matter. This week, we have been thinking about what we already know about solids, liquids and gases.
In Computing, we have been learning about stop-frame animations and we have been planning characters and scenery that we will make next week for our own animations.
