In English this week Year 3 have continued editing and improving their writing by using adjectives and adverbs. The class were banned from using the following adjectives: big, small, nice, good and bad. This encouraged the children to think carefully about effective word choices and the impact on the reader. We have also briefly touched upon shape poetry this week. This will be something we explore in more detail over the final two weeks of term.
In Maths this week we gone over a number of mental maths skills in lots of practical situations. It is important to quiz children on times tables as well as addition and subtraction sums to keep them on their toes.
We are going on our class trip to Wallingford library on Friday. The librarians will be showing the children how to choose books independently that will match their ability and interests. This is a really important skill for all children to have.
Finally, we are extremely excited for our Christmas play next Monday and Tuesday evening. The children have worked so hard on this in school so I am sure you will all thoroughly enjoy the performances. Please remember to book your tickets before the night.
