It was lovely to see everyone this week at the parent’s evenings. If you did not make it to parent’s evening please come in and book a separate slot with me one day after school.
In English this week Year 3 have been learning how to edit and improve their writing. We have introduced ‘polishing’ pens so that children can go back and correct any mistakes or improve and add writing before I mark their work. This is to help children slow down and carefully check each sentence. The children this week also had their first taster of using handwriting pens. We will continue to use these pens in all our handwriting lessons to encourage children to present their work neatly. If they can show me this throughout their work then they can earn a pen license. Next week we will cover more grammar knowledge and start to look at shape poetry.
In Maths this week we have continued to round numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and even 1000. We have also rehearsed subtracting 2 and 3 digit numbers by counting the difference alongside lots of mental maths.
Christmas play rehearsals are going extremely well and most of the class have now learnt their lines and all of the songs. Please keep up the hard work at home. If all costumes could be in school by Wednesday 3rd December then we have time to sort out any problems before Friday’s dress rehearsal.
