Week 8 (19/10/2015)

In English we have continued to look at persuasive writing. We have looked at a range of letters and thought about the persuasive features. Then we planned and wrote letters from Lila (from ‘The Firework Maker’s Daughter) to the other firework maker’s persuading them to come and visit the shop.

In Maths we have been revising word problems. We thought carefully about our steps to success – we read the question carefully, identified the operation needed, found the important information and then had a go at solving the problem. Please continue to work on times tables over half term.

In Art, we have continued to sew our initials in hieroglyphics onto binca.

Homework task for this week – The children have a task about Ancient Egypt. The children need to research a topic within Ancient Egypt that interests them (please avoid pharaohs and mummification). Work can be presented as a poster/ leaflet/ factsheet. Please encourage the children to put as much effort as they can into this task. This work needs to be handed in by Tuesday 3rd November.

Homework diaries will be collected in every week (usually on a Tuesday), house points will be given to children who have read at least 4 times at home and have had their book signed by an adult.

Have a lovely half term!
