Dear Parents/Carers,
This week the children have been learning about alliteration. The children thought of alliterative phrases that we created from objects found on our walk; knobbly nuts, whistling wind, bulging berries. The children explored these phrases in a movement session using their bodies to show bulging, soaring, floating. As a class the children wrote an autumn poem.

Autumn Squirrels collect knobbly nuts and acorns on the ground. Children collect conkers, snuggled up in their coats. Scrunching leaves, broken conker shells lying on the ground. Rainbow leaves falling from the rustling trees. As it gets colder colours change all around. |
The children responded to their poem later in the week to create illustrations with what came to mind when they heard the poem.
On Monday your child received their first set of phonemes/graphemes in their book bag. Please cut these up and use them to play games so they become really secure in seeing and saying the phoneme (sound) as well as finding the correct grapheme (what it looks like) when someone says the sound.
It was great to see so many parents /carers on Wednesday afternoon during our open classroom. The children really appreciated sharing their learning with people important to them.
