Week 6 (9/10/17)

In English we have read to the end of The Promise. We have been thinking about the key message in the book and the impact that this has on the reader. We have also been continuing with our grammar work and we have been learning how to diagram commands.

In Maths we continued to rehearse rounding whole numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000. Many of the children would benefit from more practise of this at home – please see the maths key skills grid for ideas. We have also started to learn about negative numbers and we have been identifying missing numbers in sequences of negative numbers.

This year, Class 4 are part of a project being run by University College London which is all about increasing skills in collaborative group work. Each week we have a specific session on group work skills and then this is applied to curriculum lessons. This week was all about being aware of others so on Monday we had a go at being turtles! Each group had to get themselves under a PE mat and then be able to move. Groups had to work together to move otherwise the mat (or turtle shell) fell off! We also had a go at lying on the floor in our groups and we tried to calmly all breathe at the same time without verbally communicating.

Well done to everyone who continues to bring in excellent homework. Should anyone wish to complete home learning on PowerPoint (where appropriate to the task) please can work be emailed to ktwo1968@crowmarsh-gifford.oxon.sch.uk
