This week we have been finding out all about a witch who appears to be visiting the local area. Mr Cosford showed us photographs of a witch that he had seen at the weekend. She had a very green face! We have also been looking closely at newspapers and their features, including headlines and use of past tense. We had a go at writing our own headlines based on fairy-tales we knew. We tried really hard to make them short and snappy and to use alliteration too. On Thursday we found out that the witch was getting nearer and on Friday we discovered that she had visited the shop in Crowmarsh. We became investigators and went to the shop to find out what had been going on. Ask us to tell you all about it.
In maths we have been doing lots of practical activities to help us understand more about capacity. We have estimated how much water different containers hold using non-standard and standard measures. We have also compared different containers to see which one holds the most water.
In art we have created silhouettes. We cut out shapes from black paper and created some wonderful ‘witchy’ scenes.
In P.E we have been looking at different throwing and catching techniques. We played a game called ‘Raid the Nest’, which was really fun.
TASK: Choose a task from the take away homework menu. This will be changing after half-term, when our topic changes to ‘I’m the king of the castle’.
