Week 5 (21/03/2016)

Dear Parents/ Carers,

This week class R have been learning about how Christians celebrate Easter. The children listened to the Easter story from the Bible and we talked about new life. The children talked about how eggs have new life inside them. We talked about the life cycle of a chicken ordering four pictures and writing labels and sentences about them. We went outside and did observational drawings of Clucky and Flap Flap as well as learnt the song ‘Chick, chick, chick, chick, chicken’ which we shared with the school at the Easter service on Thursday.

In Maths this week the children have been learning about money. The children have been handling giant money in our outdoor area, naming the coins. The children talked about the value of the coins beginning to think about counting the 2 pence twice as it is worth 2 pennies. To challenge the children we began thinking about which two toys we might be able to buy in a shop with a given amount of money. You could practise this at home using this game. http://www.topmarks.co.uk/Flash.aspx?f=Buy2itemsv4

Over the Easter holiday please remember to practise using your grapheme flash cards to make words as well as reading daily to practise your skills. Please use your number cards to make passcodes on door and number hunts in the outdoors.

Mrs Conway is leaving us this term to have her baby. We wish her the very best of luck and thank her so much for all the learning she had helped the children with. We look forward to meeting the new arrival when the time comes. Good Luck Mrs Conway and Thank you.

Have a fantastic Easter break.

Miss Zimmerman and Mrs Conway
