In Maths we have been helping Tom and Jerry work out addition and subtraction problems using column addition, base 10, counters and Place Value column sheets. On Friday we used 3 different ways to help us work out 3 sums (1 way for each sum). Those 3 ways were: partitioning, taking away 100 and adding 10 and using a number line to count back in 10s.
In English we’ve been looking at Balanced Arguments. We also write our own Balanced Arguments about The Three Little Pigs or Goldilocks. We were deciding if the Big Bad wolf and Goldilocks should go to prison or not.
In PE this week we have been doing gymnastics. On Friday we do movements like jumping from apparatus. The types of jumps we did were: star jumps, straddle jumps, pike jumps, tuck jumps, half turns and also cat leaps. On Monday we are looking at shapes we could make with our bodies and we have started using balls, hoops and bean bags.
I Art we have been creating things using just a dot to start with. We did a crazy doodle on the whiteboard that everyone could make objects out of.
In Geography we have been looking at the Continents, Brazil and the Oceans. We are now studying South America and Brazil.
In Science we’ve been looking at magnets and what things are magnetic. We got given a tray of magnetic and non-magnetic things and we tried to use a magnet on each. We had to sort out which things were and were not magnetic.
