In English we have been continuing to read ‘How to Live Forever’. We have been discussing questions about the text looking closely at where the evidence is. We have all written newspaper reports this week and lots of us focused on how to use adverbs in our writing. Towards the end of the week we started looking at fronted adverbials and how these can be created by moving the adverb within a sentence. Next week we will be thinking about using fronted adverbials in a setting description.
In maths this week we have been multiplying numbers by 0 and 1 as well as dividing numbers by 1. We have been representing problems on a bar model and using mathematical rules to solve the calculations. Next week we will be looking at problems involving the 6, 7 and 9 times tables.
In geography, we have looked closely at where China is and we used Google Earth to find key locations and geographical features within China. We used a map and clues to identify the village that we are going to be learning about. Finally, we watched a film clip about the location – a remote mountainous village called Chan’gou which is located in Yunnan.
Today Class 4 went to the Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford. We attended the Oxfordshire Schools’ Concert and we all really enjoyed listening to the live orchestral music.
Recently we did some work in class identifying which key word spellings the children are still unsure of and some of the children asked to take a copy of their spelling sheet home. If your child has brought a sheet home, they have shown that they are keen to improve so please support them to learn the spellings.
