Dear Parents/ Carers,
This week in Literacy we used our role-play skills to represent our experience of the hatching ‘Living Eggs’. The children moved to the music ‘pipping’ at the shells and stretching out, starting to move in ways we saw the chicks move. The children shared, as chicks, what they might be thinking or saying while in their eggs or after just hatching out.
On Wednesday the children had the opportunity to hold the chicks which are now just over a week old! The children talked about their ‘spikey toes’ and said they were ‘fluffy’ and ‘soft’. The children then used their knowledge of letters and sounds to write about their experience.
In Maths, we have been concentrating on developing our knowledge of the number line with numbers from 1-20. The children have been finding the correct numerals when asked for a number that comes before, after, next to, in between, larger than, smaller than, more than a given number, less than a given number. The children have been placing numbers in order and using their number lines to solve number problems.

We have talked about the life cycle of as chicken and started to think about the life cycles of other animals and how they differ.
Next week we will be looking at how we have grown over the past few years and using ICT to create a self-portrait.
