Science
In science we looked at astronomy as our new project. We first watched several hundred videos on the solar system and the rest of our galaxy, telling us that Jupiter-400 times the size of earth-was PUNY compared to stars like beetle juice-600 times the size of our sun. The videos were excellently narrated by, well, the narrator (still no clue who he is!) who was zoomed out the camera from the earth to the furthest reaches of our galaxy. We still have a lot to learn though J
Spellings
In spellings we have been focusing on creating simple sentences out of word list 1. (Pronunciation, excellent, accommodate, communicate, determined, desperate, persuade, suggest, appreciate, individual, sufficient and existence.)
Literacy
On Monday and moving into Tuesday, we started in Literacy doing some Grammar sheets on colons and semi-colons, as well as Hyphens and dashes. On Wednesday we began to look at the original script for Macbeth in its original Shakespearian dialect, we examined the text vividly, and then discussed major plot point from scene one and three (Involving the witches talking to Macbeth and his friend Banquo). After the discussion we began to answer question about the text and plot. On Thursday we read another scene, after this reading we discussed the crazed and slightly disturbing mind of Lady Macbeth. She’s plotting to kill, I won’t spoil the plot.
Maths
In maths, we have been calculating the area of compound shapes and the surface area and volume of 3D shapes. Another group have been doing work set by Mrs Barton: They have been calculating sums with pie, dimensions, circumference, diameter and radius.
