This week in English, we have continued to look at a variety of short stories from other cultures. We have been looking for clues in the texts that tell us the origin of the story. Next week we will be planning, writing and assessing our own stories with a traditional theme.
In Maths this week, we have been recapping expanded and compact methods for column subtraction. We have also been rehearsing our 7 times table and we have revised formal multiplication. Next week we will be continuing to develop our knowledge of fractions.
In Geography this week, we thought about the landscape of Southern India and the area around Chembakolli. Next week we will be thinking about ‘quality of life’, we will be making comparisons between our lives and the people who live in Chembakolli.
In Science this week we have been experimenting with measuring and recording temperature. Next week we will be comparing the temperature at which different materials change state.
We have been busy in Art making the scenery and characters for our stop-frame animations.
The homework for this week is a fact sheet about India. The children will probably need to look some of the answers up in books and/ or on the Internet. Please let us know if this causes any problems.
