Week 2 (11/01/2016)

This week we have started our ‘Who’s afraid of the big bad wolf?’ topic. We have been exploring different fairy-tales, looking at the similarities and differences between them. We have concentrated on Goldilocks, Little Red Riding Hood and the three little pigs. We have used story maps to help us retell tales as well as stepping out stories. Ask us to tell you about the ‘Freeze framing’ we have done.

In our topic sessions we have been investigating which material would be best to keep Little Red Riding Hood dry. We looked at a selection of different materials and talked about their properties. We thought carefully about how to make our test fair. We then made predictions and tested our ideas.

In Maths we have been finding 1 or 2 more or less than a given number. We have also been seeing how quickly we can find a 2-digit number on a hundred square, using our knowledge of tens and ones to work out where it would be.

In art we have been designing our own fairy-tale castles. Ask us to tell you all about them, they’re brilliant!

PE Kits: Please could you ensure that your child has shorts as well as P.E trousers as they will be doing P.E indoors and outdoors.

TASK:  Who can design a new fairy-tale giant? Be as imaginative as you can. Your giant could be drawn, collaged or painted.
