Maths
This week we have been learning about fractions, such as ordering them, adding and subtracting them and converting them into top heavy fractions, for example 9/3, 7/5 or 4/2. Top heavy fractions are a different way of saying improper fractions. Improper fractions are fractions that represent a fraction where the numerator is greater than the denominator.
English
English this week was pretty tough, with having to study newspaper articles, although it was pretty fun too! We practiced planning using the fish bone and I’m sure a lot of year six would enjoy using the fish bone to help them in their writing. Also we learnt how to start and close our news articles and that sometimes it’s just as useful to get to the point straight away.

E-safety
This week on Wednesday Mrs Barton came in to teach us about being safe on the Internet. She showed us two stories about internet safety. One of these stories was based around privacy settings, Mrs Barton then explained more about privacy settings and how to keep people who lie about their age on the Internet out and away. The second story was about chat room safety, and how not to give away clues about your identity. Later on in the day Mrs Barton explained about the faults in many social media websites.
Science
In science we have be learning about water resistance and how things float. We were creating boats out of plastercine, we found the most efficient way of making a boat which was a flat base with a slightly curved edge so you can get the most water particles under the base.
