Week 2 (07/11/2016)

This week in our English lessons we have been planning and writing newspaper reports. We have looked at the features of newspapers and had a go at planning and writing our own news reports. We based these reports on ‘I was a rat’, which is the book we are reading in class. We had to try really hard to include facts, to write in the past tense and to include some noun phrases.

In maths we have been looking at multiplication. We know that multiplication is repeated addition; 4 x 3 = 3+3+3+3. We have used manipulatives, number lines and arrays to work out different multiplications. We know that multiplication can only be done if the groups are of equal size. We also know that multiplication is commutative, so 4 x 3 = 3 x 4.

In our Topic work we did some drama. We became journalists and hot seated the three main characters from ‘I was a rat’. We asked some really good questions and found out lots of information to help us write our newspaper reports.

In P.E we have been choreographing our own fireworks dances. We danced to Firework by Katy Perry. We came up with some fantastic dance moves to represent different fireworks. We started off in pairs mirroring and shadowing our partner. We then worked in groups of 4 and then in groups of 8.

Have a lovely weekend!
