We had an excellent World Book Week last week and the children enjoyed learning about different stories and sharing their favourites. The children also had an opportunity to have other teachers in their classrooms sharing books and talking about reading. To carry on with our focus on reading we have another ‘Readathon’ coming up in the school hall on Wednesday March 25th starting at 8:00 a.m. There will be bacon sandwiches on offer as well! You won’t want to miss out!
Children love to share books with adults. Either reading to them or listening to them read aloud to them! It is just sharing in the joy that a book can bring.
We have lots of events coming up before Easter and we urge you to keep reading the newsletter and keeping an eye on the dates for your diary.

Manners in school have been amazing. Everyone has noticed such a change in children’s behaviour. Last Friday I showed another very experienced headteacher around our school who commented on the fact that the behaviour and manners that she witnessed in our school were some of the best she had ever seen. Wow!
Children are going out of their way to hold doors open for each other, to say, “Good Morning,” to adults that they pass, to welcome visitors into their school and to constantly say please and thank you when necessary. We have been talking about how it is important to ‘look at people in the eye.’ So, I have had children every day coming up to me and looking me straight in the eye and asking, “How has your day been so far, Mrs Barton?”
Ask your children what we have been talking about in regards to manners……see what they say.
The children are all realising that manners really do matter and can make a massive difference…..
