Week 5 (29/09/2014)

In English this week, we have been looking at free verse poetry and we have had a go at writing our own poems based on Ancient Egypt. Next week we will be starting a new unit of work on Persuasive Writing. Please encourage the children to look out for examples of persuasive techniques on the television, in shops and on adverts.

In Maths, we have looking at time. We have rehearsed digital /analogue times and we have been calculating lengths of time. Please encourage your child to regularly use a clock to tell the time. Thank you to everyone who has had a go at the Abacus Active Learning website.  We will continue to work on times tables in school, please support this at home too.

In Science we have been thinking about the skeleton. Thank you to Mrs. Keable for coming in to talk to us today.

In PSHCE, we have been creating pictures to explain the importance of being a ‘purple learner.’ Our learning diving board will soon be on the Learning Display.

In History we have looked at the three farming seasons in Ancient Egypt. You should have received a letter about an Ancient Egypt workshop that class 4 will be involved in on 15th October.

Reminders –

  • Please remember to write in homework diaries when reading is completed at home. We check the diaries every Tuesday.
  • We sent home the blue spelling books last week so that parents can see spelling test results. Please remind your child to bring their blue book back to school with their homework folder.
