We are pleased to see that so many of you are looking at the website. The children have enjoyed sharing their homework with the class.
This week we have been focusing on non-fiction texts in English. We have played ‘Guess the Sea Creature’ and recorded our own clues on the easi-speak microphones. We have written facts about sea creatures, read Dougal the deep-sea diver’s diary, written our own diary entries in the style of Dougal’s and found out about the different parts of a shark’s body!
Our maths work this week has been focused on 2D shapes. We have identified triangles, circles, rectangles and squares and have sorted shapes using both Venn and Carroll diagrams. We have also been learning what symmetry means. During maths lessons we have identified shapes and pictures that are symmetrical and in ICT we used modelling software to create our own symmetrical patterns.
Making the most of the Autumn sunshine, we have been using our outdoor area to print repeating shape patterns, create pictures with a line of symmetry and, as part of our Science work, we’ve tested objects to see whether they float or sink.
Task: Next week we will be learning about shipwrecks – who can find some pictures or information about a ship that sank long ago?
