Week 6 (1/4/19)

This week we have been discussing what we know about school life in Chembakolli. We then talked about how it is different to life at Crowmarsh. We brainstormed section headings – e.g. School routines, facilities, equipment and after school activities. We looked at a WAGOLL and a WABOLL and in our trios wrote about what made the good one good and what makes the bad one bad. Share ideas then generate the success criteria for this text. We planned and wrote information texts about life at Crowmarsh school so they could be shared with a child from Chembakolli to help them understand what school life is like in England.

In maths, we have been learning to tell the time and to draw hands on a clock to show given times. We have talked about drawing the hands very carefully so that they are in the correct position to accurately show the time. We have also counted round the clock in 5s to show the 5 minute intervals between numbers. Later in the week we looked at working out what the time would be an hour or half an hour earlier or later than a given time. http://www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/clock/

Is a good website for predicting and then showing what the time will be in 15, 30 or 60 minutes time.

In science we have started our unit of work on animals, including humans. We looked at animals and their babies and worked in groups to match the adult to the baby animal, and the baby with its name. We then looked at how some different animals grow. We realised that most mammals are just smaller versions of their parents but that some animals change completely.

In ICT we looked at different bar charts and answered questions about them. We had to think carefully about the scale of the graphs to recognise whether it was going up in ones or more than ones.

Have a great weekend,

From the Class Two Team
