Week 5 (25/03/19)

This week in English we have continued to read our abridged version of The Secret Garden. We have now met Colin and we have been thinking carefully about how Mary is helping him to feel better about himself. We have been learning about play scripts this week and we looked at examples of play scripts in order to identify the features. Then we took the section of the text where Mary first meets Colin and we wrote this as a play script. We had to think really carefully about what the characters would say as well as the stage directions. At the end of the week we started to plan our own play scripts which we will be writing next week.

In maths we have been dividing 2 and 3 digit numbers by a 1 digit number where there may be remainders in the answer. We have been thinking carefully about how to share out the ones, tens and hundreds and we have been exchanging as needed. Lots of us have had to really persevere with this division work! Next week we will be moving onto fractions.

All completed engineering projects were sent off to the competition this week.

In computing, we continued with our stop frame animations. We had a go at taking photographs using an iPad or camera making sure that only the scenery and characters were in the shot. Next week we will be taking all of the proper photos and then creating our final animations.

In geography today we continued to learn about the Yangtze River. In our groups, we did some research into the river and then we presented our findings to the rest of the class.
