This week in English, we have been planning and writing our own adventure stories in the style of ‘The Firework Maker’s Daughter’. In order to ensure that this piece of writing was better than the last, we all set ourselves at least 2 targets for this task. We reflected on the feedback from our previous piece of work and we reminded ourselves of the skills that we learnt last week. Lots of us decided that we could work on improving our use of adjectives to modify nouns. The feedback that we received this week has been used in the editing process and will inform future targets. In reading, we have continued with the story and speculated on the 3 gifts that Lila should have taken to the Fire-Fiend.
In Maths we have continued with addition. We have been solving calculations involving exchanging numbers. We explored this process using place value counters and then moved on to a more formal column addition. Throughout the week we have been representing our calculations on a bar model. We have also been identifying where mistakes have been made in calculations.
This week in Computing we logged onto our school email accounts again and we learnt how to search our system for email addresses. We then practised sending and opening emails.
This week we have continued with our Christmas play rehearsals. The children should have brought their song sheets home this weekend so that they can continue to learn the words. It would be helpful if everyone with a speaking part could learn their lines by the end of next week. A letter regarding costumes will be coming home early next week. Thank you for your support.
Well done to everyone who has continued to read regularly.
