Week 4 (24/9/18)

This week in English we have been thinking carefully about the importance of writing in the correct tense and ensuring that this is consistent throughout the piece of writing. We practised changing sentences in the present tense to the past tense and vice versa. Towards the end of the week, we started to plan a diary entry. We will be continuing with these next week with a focus on ensuring consistent use of the past tense.

In maths we have continued to think about how numbers can be represented in different ways. Later in the week we started learning about how to order and compare numbers with up to 4 digits. We have also been rehearsing our times tables, please continue to learn these at home.

Today we went out for a local walk to learn about how the roads in Crowmarsh have changed over time. We walked along Watery Lane and tried to imagine what it would have been like when this was the main route out of the village towards Reading. We thought about why this track would have become unsuitable over time. We then looked at Old Reading Road and how this would have been the main road before the By-pass was there. Again we thought about why Old Reading Road became unsuitable for the amount of traffic using it.

Please remember to read with your child as often as possible. I will continue to take in reading records on a Monday.
