Week 5 (27/11/17)

This week in English we have read more of ‘The Firework Maker’s Daughter’ by Phillip Pullman. We have been thinking about how Lila and Lalchand need to win the firework competition in order to save Lalchand’s life. In English, we have been recapping the different types of sentences. We have been writing sentences which include a subordinate clause and either a subordinating conjunction or a comma. We have also been thinking about the impact that a short sentence can have within writing.

In Maths we have been continuing with our work on subtraction. We have been looking at exchanging numbers as well as deepening our knowledge by explaining mistakes and solving problems.

We have been very busy this week preparing for our Christmas performance. Please can you ensure that your child’s costume is in school by next Wednesday at the latest? Some children have been asked to bring in additional props. Thank you for your support and we are looking forward to the performances!
