Maths
First thing in the morning we are challenging ourselves by completing 20 quick fire times’ tables questions in 1 minute. We’ve been looking a multiplication and division word problems, these have been multi-step. This is a type of question we have been working on. A farmer’s hens together lay 270 eggs every day, the eggs are packed in boxes of 6. 4 full boxes go into a crate. How many crates are packed every day?
Some of us have also been revisiting the formal methods for division and multiplication; this is helping us to reinforce our understanding.
English
This has been really fun; we’ve tried to move on from PEE and are looking at metaphors, similes and personification to make our writing better at description. We are still reading Wolf Brother for inspiration, to predict what is going to happen next to our characters. We have also been doing a similar task to this in our homework. We have tried a different method of planning and have been using the 5 senses; hear, smell, taste, sight and feel.

We have almost finished our Viking cam toys; most of us have also finished painting. We have had to adapt our original ideas to make sure each part moves and will work. They are nearly all painted and we are adding our characters onto the model.

- Don’t forget that your homework is due-in date is on the top of your sheet and you should complete maths and English by then. If your child is struggling with anything feel free to come in and see Mr Morton.
- We are starting to use our yellow spelling books more and build up our own bank of words.
- The rehearsals have been happening for our Christmas production. The main speaking parts have been practicing on the stage in the hall. We have got some props to use. Some of us have brought in our costumes too. Try to bring in your costumes as soon as possible. Book your tickets as soon as possible.
- We all looked fab in our Christmas jumpers today!
- On Wednesday it is Christmas dinner.
- Please bring in a wrapped box of biscuits or chocolate as we will be delivering them to the senior citizens.
- There is an open afternoon on Wednesday 6th.
- School fair after school on Thursday 7th.
- On Friday 8th it is yellow day for a pound.
