This week we have been brushing up on our grammar! We found out that all sentences need to include a subject and a verb and we learned a simple way to diagram this. We also sorted sentences into 4 types: statements, commands, exclamations and questions.
In our topic work, we have been learning about India. So far we have found India on a world map and discovered which continent it is a part of. We watched a video to give us an overview and then used the laptops to find out more detail about the things like climate, different regions, traditions and food. We made lots of notes! Later in the week we looked at travel brochures about India then wrote our own, while trying to include some of the four sentence types we had learned about in grammar.
In maths we have been working on subtracting a 2 digit number from another 2 digit numbers. To help us do this, we partitioned the numbers into their tens and ones before we took away the ones and finally the tens. We know that subtraction cannot be done in any order and we must start with our ‘whole’.
As part of our science work, we have started to think about different climate regions and habitats; we will be looking at how animals adapt and survive in these different habitats.
