Week 3 (20/06/2016)

Another busy week in Year 4!

This week in English we have continued to read ‘The Wolves in the Walls’ by Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean. We have been really enjoying this book and so far this term we have already written wolf poetry and earlier this week we wrote our own endings to the story. Throughout our work we have been looking closely at the amazing illustrations. The pictures tell us more about Lucy and her family whilst also making the book creepy and scary!

In Maths we have been continuing to work on fractions. We have been learning how to add and subtract fractions as well as changing improper fractions to mixed numbers. At the end of the week we started to learn how to find fractions of amounts.

This week has been our school ‘Brazil and 2016 Rio Olympics’ week. On Thursday we all completed different activities in different classes based on Brazil and the Olympics. Amongst lots of other things, we made Olympics medals and enjoyed listening to a Brazilian story. In class we have learnt about Brazil by researching information such as famous sportspersons, buildings and the patron saint. We also made bunting to show some of the countries that will be participating and the sports events that will be in the Olympics. On Tuesday, Mrs Dark even taught us some Portuguese!

As well as all of this we also found time to have our first step up session in Year 5!

Please remember to keep reading to earn house points and remember to hand in homework from the Takeaway menu!
