This week we have had a go at writing our own fairy tales. First of all we made a storyboard of ‘The Three Little Pigs’ and then we used our pictures to help us create a retelling of the story. Later in the week we created our own version of ‘Little Red Riding Hood.’ We had to change Little Red Riding Hood’s name, the setting of the story and the wolf. When we worked together we came up with ‘Big Blue Jumping Hood’, in the jungle, with a tiger! Ask us to tell you about our own versions.
On Friday we will be going to the church for our Christingle Service. In preparation, we are spending Thursday afternoon making our Christingles to take with us. We talked about the symbolism of the different parts of the Christingle. Ask us to explain what the different parts mean.
In Maths we have been adding a single digit number to different 2-digit numbers. We can do this using a hundred square and we have also tried holding a number in our head and counting on. We now know that it is always easier to start with the largest number and count on.
In topic we have been having a think about why different materials are used in different situations. We had a discussion about the houses of the three little pigs and have started to plan an investigation to test which of the houses was the strongest and why.
