Week 1 (04/01/2016)

Welcome back. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas holiday. Our first week back has been in full swing. We have a new teacher working with us in Class 3 until February who will be delivering some of the lessons. His name is Mr Cosford. He has been in Crowmarsh Primary school since September working alongside Class 5 and Class 6.

In English Class 3 have been looking at recounts (a retelling of an event). We have shared a few examples and identified what information makes a good recount e.g. the who, where, when and why. The children also agreed that the recount was more interesting when it included personal views like why the event was so memorable and how the writer felt.

In Maths we have been comparing and ordering numbers. We rehearsed the greater than > and less than < symbols. This required the children to really focus on which digit appeared in which column.
For example: 3133 < 3313
3133 is less than 3313

We have started our new topic this term which will focus on different places all over the world. This is to give children a better insight into how they fit into the world. It also helps children to realise how they are connected to people all over the world by realising where their food, clothes etc. come from.
