Week 3 (06/03/2015)

In English this week Class 3 have been typing up their stories on the netbooks ready to make them into multimedia e-books. Once they have finished typing up their stories they will be able to add and create pictures and captions to go alongside their story.

On Wednesday we had a special visitor, named Tom Farrell, come into school for a whole school assembly. Tom has written a book based on his experience during World War Two as an evacuee child. After the assembly we were lucky enough to have Tom come in and spend some extra time with Class 3 to hear more about some of the mischief he got up to as a child. The class were able to ask some brilliant questions about Tom’s experience away from home, as well as see some WW2 shrapnel up close. Tom has kindly offered to come back in and sign any of his books should you wish to buy them. He also hinted at coming back for a Part 2 as Class 3 had so many more questions to ask.

A reminder on ‘Scratch’ – all of the children have really enjoyed exploring coding through a program called ‘Scratch’. This in a new requirement on the national curriculum this year so has been brand new to staff and children alike. Scratch is available for free online although the website looks slightly different to the software we use in school.
