This week has been our Winter Nature Detectives week. We started by thinking about the season of Winter, what it is like and what the positives and negatives of Winter are. On Tuesday afternoon we did our Winter nature walk, retracing the route of our Autumn walk to see what was similar or different. We saw that some trees had not lost their leaves and were still green, so we found out a bit about evergreen and deciduous plants. Ask us what else we noticed on our walk.
In our topic sessions we have been learning about why we have different seasons. We found out that when we have Winter, countries in the Southern hemisphere have their Summer. Ask us to explain why this is.
We also continued our tree study (of a tree on our field) to see how it has changed since the Autumn, and created some Winter landscapes in Art.
In Maths we have been solving addition and subtraction word problems, looking carefully at the words and deciding on what operation to use.
TASK: Who can collect leaves, tell us which tree they are from and display them in two groups: deciduous and evergreen? (You might need to look on the ground for some of them!)
