Another busy start to yet another term! There have been so many different events going on, that I really wonder how we fit it all in! It is down to the hard work and dedication of all our fantastic members of staff and the children who come in each and every day ready to learn and to always give their best.
We ended last term with our school choir performing at the annual service for governors and head teachers at Christ Church Cathedral. This was such a wonderful opportunity and we were so honoured to be chosen as the choir to sing. I have already received notes from other headteachers in attendance to congratulate us on such an amazing performance and on the brilliant behaviour and attitudes of our children. A huge thank you must go to Miss Zimmerman and Mr Lemaire who helped the children to be ‘pitch perfect!’
Last week our year 6 class worked extremely hard on producing flags to represent our constituency. As many of you know, our school was nominated to represent our constituency for the 2015 Flags Programme by John Howell. Year 6 created some stunning examples and finally voted on their favourite which will be sent to Parliament this week to be in the running to be sewn into a ‘real’ flag that will fly at a special Parliamentary event in March 2015. We also had our very first disco of the year. All the children looked dazzling and ‘sparkly’ in their outfits and danced the night away. Thank you to the PTA for organising and running this event.
This week is our anti-bullying week. Children will be learning about bullying and how to not only identify it, but how to help others if they are being bullied. We will be having special e-safety sessions throughout the day on Wednesday to also ensure that all of the children know how to keep themselves safe on the internet. Don’t forget about our parent’s session in the evening at 7:30!
Our school has so much to be proud of. The learning that takes place in our classrooms every day is evident. The teachers are passionate about what they are delivering and the children soak up every word. ‘Learning’ truly is at the heart of everything we do.
We are all learners…always trying to be our very best.
