I’m sitting here listening to Christmas Carols being sung by the children. Every child in our school performs in a Christmas production, it is something that we think is important and we all put in a great deal of effort to ensure their success.
We really think about our school value of Service at this time of year – focusing on giving rather than receiving and thinking of others in our community. Families have been bringing in wrapped boxes of biscuits and chocolates for members in our village which the children will deliver at the end of next week. It is just a small way to remind them that we are here and thinking of them and their families during Christmas.
I’m hoping that our pencil cases have arrived safely to Masekane School. They were being hand delivered by a member of CHOKO who was visiting the area this December. Thank you so much to all the families that helped put them together; they will be so excited to receive them!
This week the KS1 children found a sack of presents on the top of our outdoor classroom. A few days later we received a letter from the Chief Elf saying that they were having a practice flight and had dropped a few sacks over Crowmarsh! So, please look out for any other missing sacks.
All of this excitement prompted the children to write about what they had found. They also sent letters of response to the Chief Elf to let him know that one of their sacks was found at our school. Lots of writing and enthusiasm was generated…..it has been wonderful to hear the children talking about their writing and how they hoped they could save Christmas for some children by ensuring the presents were returned to Santa.
I’m sure there will be just as much excitement in the air as we approach our final week….ever closer to Christmas.
